Come and see CONFIRMATION By Chris Thorpe Developed with and Directed by Rachel Chavkin Commissioned by Northern Stage and Battersea Arts Centre at Folkestone Quarterhouse.
If you pinned me against a wall, I’d probably admit to being a liberal. Of course, pinning me against a wall is exactly what I’d expect from someone like you.
A show about the gulfs we can’t talk across, and about the way we choose to see only the evidence that proves we’re right. Working with research into the phenomenon of confirmation bias, Confirmation is an attempt to have an honourable dialogue, real and imagined, with political extremism. To find out how we believe what we believe, and how we can end up so far apart. A 2014 Fringe First award-winning show: written and performed by Chris Thorpe (Unlimited Theatre, Third Angel), developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin (The TEAM).
Confirmation is a show that lets nobody off the hook: not us, and definitely not Thorpe. The Guardian Thorpe and director Rachel Chavkin energetically take a liberal Fringe audience to the edge of the abyss of belief and hang them over the side in a conversation for our times. The Independent Running time 80 minutes with no interval. Age guidance 14+.
