The museum celebrates Kent agriculture, mainly in the period when horses, oxen and men provided the power on the farm, and exhibits range from large wagons and other machines to small hand tools and related items.
The collections are based on the agricultural history of Kent and almost all our objects were made in, or used in Kent, or both. The extensive collections are displayed in a magnificent 14th century barn and an early 19th century oast house. A Victorian stable block gives visitors the possibility to watch some of our archival films in the (heated!) education room, and this site also contains an office/storage room and modern toilets.
Visitors may be guided round the museum by staff or wander freely and independently if preferred, and there is also access to an audio guide. Access for people with mobility problems is reasonable, except for the upper floor of the oast. Visitors find themselves very close to the exhibits and many of these are able to be handled. We do not have facilities for refreshments but there is a pub in Brook and several in nearby Wye.
We are proud to say that visitors who have never been to the museum before almost always go away delighted with the experience.
