Get blown away by the tallest Smock Mill in Britain. Seven floors (limited disabled access), great views, activities for children, including the opportunity to make flour using techniques which date back 10,000 years. Built in 1814 and still in working order, you may be lucky to be greeted by the sight of the great sails (known locally as "sweeps") turning in the wind.
England’s tallest Smock Mill and possibly the finest windmill in the country. Built in 1814 and one of the few surviving mills that remains in working order, continuing to grind flour solely by wind power. Dominating the skyline of the historic Wealden town of Cranbrook the mill contains 7 floors of machinery, equipment and displays. Learn how flour was produced when the only power sources available were Man, Animal, Water or Wind.
